Bread of Life Distribution - BOLD

Bread of Life Distribution, or BOLD as we call it, is a ministry of giving and encouragement inspired by the unity and generosity of the early church as found in Acts chapter 4 and verses 29-37. Established in 1997, BOLD is a programme of Gold Coast Youth for Christ to mobilise ordinary followers of Jesus like us to distribute surplus fresh food from local bakeries and other suppliers to as many families and others in need as we can reach, including youth and senior citizens. It is not a food bank but is an effective distribution network of Christian fellowships and youth missions in partnership with Gold Coast Youth for Christ. We aim to work together, with the highest standards and respect for our various suppliers and their commercial interests, reaching out to others in our local community who are in genuine need and building good relationships. Standards for hygienic and timely food handling are very important. Where possible, we like to enclose a ‘Good News to Encourage You’ message with our gifts of fresh food. Remember what Jesus said: "I am the bread that gives life! No-one who comes to me will ever be hungry. No-one who has faith in me will ever be thirsty." (John chapter 6 and verse 35, CEV).

Experience the grace and joy of giving and working together in unity as Jesus intended (John chapter 17 and verses 20-21), gaining confidence and sensitivity in reaching out to our neighbours with the love of Christ. Help our churches grow as a direct result of this effective, practical and voluntary outreach that has no denominational barriers. If you would like to know more about BOLD and how you can set a up a programme in your community, as we have done, then please contact us.

Building on principles learned through directing our BOLD programme and working with disadvantaged and unemployed youth, their vision is for short-term aid/development projects facilitated in partnership with local church fellowships and missions in Australia and overseas. Team building, discipleship and leadership training for effective outreach, through action-learning and mentoring, are vital elements of this project-based, youth-focused ministry of giving and encouragement.
